Its a wonderful time of the year–for everyone. If you are caring for someone with Alzheimers there are some easy safety tips to ensure a pleasant summertime experience.
Ensure your loved one stays in the shade and try not to have them outdoors between 10-2. Wear sunglasses and a sun hat!!
WATER WATER WATER–drink lots of water —and keep it within arms reach.
Help your loved one make good clothing choices as their decision making capabilities may be difficult.
Make sure you employ the buddy system so no one swims unsupervised–and most importantly have a back up plan that allows for a quiet place to rest if things get overwhelming!
Use common sense when outdoors and HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!!
