Training
Each new staff person is trained one-on-one, working side by side with a staff trainer who works in the same position as the new employee. This style of training is personal and effective; it not only integrates the new staff person into the Kemper team, it also provides hands-on experience to caring the Kemper Way. On-going staff training is delivered in a creative and fun environment that keeps staff energized, educated, and excited about the work we do at Kemper House.
Kemper House is a recognized leader in Alzheimer's and dementia care. All employees receive dementia specific training upon employment at Kemper House, and on an ongoing basis. All staff persons receive at least four hours annually in dementia specific training in order to enhance their knowledge and skills in caring for those with memory loss.
Career Paths
Staff persons that wish to advance in their careers at Kemper House may also apply to participate in an intensive, nationally recognized Dementia care certification program. The facilitated learning program is written by the Dementia Care Professionals of America, a division of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Upon completion of the program, individuals receive the title of Qualified Dementia Care Provider, a nationally recognized certification. Several of our staff have completed this training, and have continued on with their training to earn a Qualified Dementia Care Specialist certification.
